Your crew, headed by Chet Wellborn completed a job on Saturday the 26th at the Park Superintendent’s residence at 404 Park Street in Parkin, AR. I wanted to tell you how this went. We are one of 52 Arkansas State Parks here at Parkin Archeological State Park. The residence had a sinking foundation on the southwest side with visible cracks on the masonry. We had your company address this with what we call a Major Maintenance Project.
First, I received several e-mails preparing me for the project and announcing when it would be done. When the crew was on the way, I received calls from Chet telling me their expected arrival time. He called me each day to announce his expected arrival time. They started the job on Thursday the 24th, which if you recall was the morning after a pretty bad ice storm that coated everything in a sheet of ice. I was super surprised that the crew came in such bad weather. Chet wanted to go over the project with me when he arrived with the crew. He asked about any concerns I had, but being a Park Superintendent and having seen all the specs about the project, I had no concerns, but had I been an average residential customer, this would have been very helpful. We had a brief discussion about the project and they started working. Chet asked about my expectations for the work. My bricks had separated in places, but I said all I wanted was to stabilize the foundation.
I went out to check on them several times. They had laid down plywood and plastic sheets to protect my lawn. Your guys were covered in mud from having to dig out the wet soil and work in the trenches– ours soils here is full of clay. These guys never stopped working. Every time I came out to check on them, they were working. I have never seen any kind of construction crew work so hard and in such miserable conditions and I have seen a lot of construction in my 38 years with Arkansas State Parks. On one trench, water started flowing from under the foundation, so Chet told me it would be best to cut off the water in case there was a problem in the house. I think the water had just pooled under the foundation because it quit flowing after a time. Chet was sure to tell me about how deep he ran the supports and the PSI he placed on each support. Your crew knows their job. They worked all day Thursday and Friday – it was hard work, but they kept it up until late in the afternoon. On Saturday, Chet and Robert came out to finish up the project and clean up everything. They worked most the day. It was unusual for me to be at my residence during working hours, but the main part of our park and our Visitor Center had lost power the whole time.
Anyway, your crew did a fantastic job and they represent your company very well. I was astounded how much your guys paid attention to their work, their high level of customer service and relations, and the quality of the support hardware you use on these projects. It was a project well done. I will also say that the man who came out to identify the problem and create a plan with us did a great job planning the project and getting it scheduled. I am sure many in your company were involved in this whole process.
Thank you,
Ben
