Crawl Space Repair - Tip of the week: Considering Rim Joist Insulation

A rim joist is the board just above the foundation at the perimeter of your home’s floor system. It leaks unconditioned air from outside and is not insulated properly, contributing to cold basements in winter and condensation/humidity in summer. RimTight insulation seals and insulates your rim joist. Rim joists are sealed and insulated with one of two methods, and the installer would choose which option is the best for each property.

Both methods provide the same benefits.

Insulating the rim joists does a number of things:

- Lowers heating costs

- Reduces warm humid air entering in summer
