Tip of the week: Why a busy contractor is a good thing
Some general thoughts: A busy contractor is busy for a reason. They have built a reputation for treating customers well, providing value, and executing on the results promised. If a contractor can come out to inspect your issue the same day you inquired or a couple days later even, ask yourself… “why are they available? Where is the clientele they have built up from being a trusted resource?” It has been said that a great contractor will be booked out a month or more on installations. This is true. We take the time to do things the right way on every project, and fixing things the right way has blessed us with a strong reputation and referral business.
The initial inspection: It is important to us that there is time to send you our pre appointment package in the mail in advance of your inspection appointment. Why? Our package equips you with what you need to know in advance of your appointment, and also makes you better prepared to ask questions of the inspector.
Our inspectors each meet with a maximum of two customers a day. Why? Great question. We don’t know if you have had this experience before, but we have: a contractor shows up at your home, eyeballs what you are wanting to do or repair, and says he/she will come up with a quote and send it to you when they can. Sometimes, they even have to come back out to explain it to you in person, that is, IF they ever get back to you. We think that is ridiculous. When our inspectors come to your property, he/she will start by gathering information from you as to what your concerns are or aren’t. This is important. We aren’t going to propose something to you that doesn’t accomplish your goals. After listening to your goals, the inspector will thoroughly inspect the property, crawl up under the house where applicable, take pictures, take measurements, assess what is going on, and formulate a plan for a permanent fix. After the inspector is done, he/she will show you the findings, explain them, and show you on the computer how he/she is building the proposal. Because it is important to us to spend the time to do it right in the first visit, our inspection appointments take longer. Getting back to why the inspectors run two appointment per day- this is the reason why. We also know that he/she needs to be available to you for questions, concerns, follow-up, etc. We want to make sure they have the capacity to do so.
Installations:
We repair complicated issues, with complex products and solutions. We take the time to do it right, and we allow the appropriate amount of time on our project calendar to accomplish that task. Projects can take anywhere from 1 to 5 days to complete depending on how complex the solution is. Those days add up quickly on our project calendar.
Every person that calls us is important to us. We know you face uncertainty when something at your home is not quite right. We understand. We also understand that if you choose to entrust our team with restoring that peace of mind to you, that you expect we take the appropriate amount of time needed to really hear your concerns, address your questions, dot every I and cross every T…Most importantly…fix it the right way and the first time. Permanently.
