Constant basement and crawl space water problems at Diamondhead Realty.
Challenge
Diamondhead Reality reached out to Redeemers Group back in May, due to issues they where having with water coming in to their crawl space and basement areas. The area was a little unusual due to the fact that it was multilevel (as you can see in the picture). Adding to the problem was a hill behind house that allowed water to rush towards it. The images illustrate that the area was in bad shape; you can see not only the water damage, but also the areas the water had affected most.
Solution
To resolve the constant water issues, they installed a SmartSump pump system with liner and a cast iron pump. They installed a CleanPump Stand with an airtight lid and airtight floor drain that keeps water vapor sealed in, while allowing water to drain down in the event of a plumbing leak. A WaterWatch alarm system was installed as well. This is a battery powered alarm that sounds off automatically when the water reaches a level above the point where the pumps should normally turn on.
To prevent floods from happening if the discharge line were to freezes, the team also installed an IceGuard system. This is a specially engineered fitting that goes outside the home and automatically ejects the water away from the exterior wall in the event that pipes freezes. They had to install a LawnScape outlet at the end of the discharge line.
Vent covers where placed over the existing vents, and they installed a SmartPipe in the crawl space to identify future plumbing leaks. Lastly, they installed a trenchDrain, discharge line, and a CleanSpace Drainage Matting under the CleanSpace liner. All these items will help ensure the crawl space and basement area stays clear of any water issues.
